Elise Marsan, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Bright Focus Foundation Alzheimer's Disease grant (2020-present)
UCSF ImmunoX Postdoctoral Fellow (2018-present)

I am a postdoctoral researcher in cellular and molecular neurobiology with a deep interest in neurological diseases. Considering the specificities of human brain cells, I am especially keen on using human samples to unravel the molecular etiologies of these pathologies. As an undergraduate researcher, I studied adult neurogenesis in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases in Toulouse (France) and Lund (Sweden). During my master and PhD studies in Paris (Brain and Spinal cord Institute - Sorbonne University), I worked on the genetics and pathophysiology of epilepsies and brain malformations related to the mTOR molecular pathway. As a postdoctoral researcher, I am now focusing on the contribution of the central and peripheral immune system in the process of neurodegeneretion. In this role, I am also part of UCSF’s immunoX project (https://immunox.ucsf.edu). In my spare time I like dancing, doing improv, as well as living abroad.
